QUICK RESORT OVERVIEW

Resort Category: Moderate

Resort Size: 1008 guest rooms (smallest of all moderate resorts)

Bed Options: 2 Queen Beds (sleeps up to 4 guests plus infant) or 1 King Bed (sleeps up to 2 guests plus infant)

Transportation Options: Bus transportation to all parks, water transportation available to Disney Springs. See Navigating with Disney World Transportation for more info.

Dining Options: Food court, pool bar, lounge (table service restaurant is located at Port Orleans Riverside Resort, a few minutes of walking from French Quarter)

Pools: 1 pool with slide, hot tub, children’s water splash area

Overall Vibe: Enjoy true Mardi Gras atmosphere among cobblestone walk ways and beautiful landscaping. A more intimate feel due to being the smallest resort within the moderate category.


DETAILED REVIEW

Check In

Although you can check in as early as you would like, your room is not guaranteed to be ready until 3:00 pm.

Stepping inside Port Orleans Square (the main building that houses the check in desk and food court) truly feels like you are submersed in New Orleans.

Dining

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory is the food court located in Port Orleans Square.

The pool is appropriately named Doubloon Lagoon.

There is also a small jacuzzi hot tub nearby the pool.

There is a nightly Cajun Campfire with complimentary marshmallows and sticks for roasting.

There are MANY other recreational activities available, just a short walk away at Port Orleans Riverside.

First, let’s look at the resort map.

There are only 7 buildings that house the guest rooms, all of which are a short walk to Port Orleans Square.

There are 5 room categories:

  • Standard View – views of the parking lot, or obstructed views. Located in buildings 1, 3, 4 & 7.
  • Garden View – views of landscaping. Located in every building.
  • River View – direct view of Sassagoula River. Located in buildings 1, 2, 5, 6 & 7.
  • Pool View – direct view of Doubloon Lagoon pool. Located on the upper floors of buildings 2 & 5.
  • King Bed – Located throughout the resort.

*TIP: even the furthest room in building 7 is only about 350 yards from Port Orleans Square (the main building)
