DETAILED REVIEW

Art of Animation opened in May of 2012. Since it is the newest Value Resort, it is the nicer of the Value options.

Check In

Although you can check in as early as you would like, your room is not guaranteed to be ready until 3:00 pm. As you are approaching the resort, you can already see the larger than life animators photos!

Pools

There are 3 pools located at this resort. The best, most centrally located pool is the Big Blue, which is Finding Nemo themed. Unique to this pool, while under water you can hear Nemo, Crush and Dory’s voice along with Nemo themed music!

**TIP: Value resort do not provide towels at the pool. Be sure to bring your own towel from your room.

Recreation

Poolside Activities throughout the day, including “Nemo Bingo”, “Disney Trivia”, “Fish Toss” and more.

Pixel Play Arcade – located between the main lobby and food court. All resort arcades on Disney property use an arcade card which is reloadable, and can be purchased in the arcade itself. This is so much easier to keep up with than coins! Thanks Disney!

An activity unique to this resort is The Sketch Artist of the Day. Draw your favorite Disney character, and take to the front desk no later than 4pm. They will reveal a winner daily at 5:45.

Rooms

Room Amenities:

**Microwave and coffee pot in suites only, not in standard rooms!

Now, let’s look at the resort map. There are 4 “sections” of buildings, each with a different theme.

AOA map 2

The rooms at Art of Animation are very popular. They offer 2 types of rooms: a family suite and a standard room.

The family suites have 3 different themes: Finding Nemo, The Lion King and Cars. As you can see on the map above, the Finding Nemo section is the best location, just steps away from the food court and the bus transportation. Because of location, the Finding Nemo rooms cost slightly more than the Cars and Lion King rooms.

Here is a layout of the family suite:

All of the family suites have their entry doors inside the building versus outside. Here is a photo of the hallway inside one of the Finding Nemo buildings:

You can also find vending and ice machines in every building:

All of the Standard Rooms are The Little Mermaid theme. These are located in buildings 7, 8 and 9, which are the furthest from the food court and bus. Although it looks like a great distance on the map, I have timed the walk. (and if you follow my blogs, you know I admit I am not a fast walker!) My walk from the food court to building 7 or 9 is right at 5 minutes, and going to building 8 was about 7 minutes. It was not a bad walk at all, as walking through the The Lion King section was always fun!
